Crestron SIMPL Windows is the premier development environment for building powerful and flexible Crestron control system applications. SIMPL Windows provides all the tools necessary to configure, program, test and debug a fully integrated system of any size or scope. Combining the familiarity of a Windows® based graphical user interface with the programming power of SIMPL (Symbol Intensive Master Programming Language), SIMPL Windows provides the link between Crestron systems hardware, user interfaces, and the world of equipment to be controlled.
The Configuration Manager view is used to define and configure the Crestron hardware and controlled AV equipment, and to import VisionTools Pro-e projects for automatic signal naming on touchpanels and XPanels. The Program Manager view is used to connect signals and define the program logic. Finally, SIMPL Windows allows programmers to test and debug programs in real time, using powerful diagnostic tools such as Test Manager, Network Analyzer, and Toolbox.
SIMPL Windows presents graphic and list views of the system in easy-to-navigate screens. Logic symbols and control modules are categorized in libraries for quick selection, while signals are color-coded, making connection points clear. SIMPL Windows supports most standard Windows commands, including drag and drop, multisignal/symbol selection, copy and paste, and undo. Programmers can bookmark symbol detail views, and store commonly used signals in the Signal Tray for quick access. The Symbol and Device Libraries are constantly being expanded to support virtually every possible application. As programmers become proficient at using SIMPL Windows it will become obvious that there are many ways to solve the same control problem. This allows for unmatched programming creativity and independent flexibility.
Though incredibly easy to use, SIMPL Windows also provides the sophisticated features advanced users require. The SIMPL Windows installation package includes SIMPL+®, a development tool that allows advanced programmers to create and compile custom control modules using a procedural language similar to C. SIMPL+ modules can be added to a SIMPL Windows program or user module much like a logic symbol, to extend functionality or solve a specific control problem.
